Today has been a very busy day for Shadowhunters (and Downworlders :P ) as Cassie Clare releases two new snippets from Clockwork Princess at the request of fans on Tumblr.
The first includes Sophie and Gideon, two characters that aren’t often requested so thankfully Cassie was feeling generous.
Gideon touched her cheek, lightly, with the tips of his fingers. “Did you know your name means ‘wisdom’? It was very well-given.” Link
This is sweet, don’t you think? What do you think this implies in regards to their relationship?
Onto the next and this time it’s Will and Tessa (listens to hearts break across the universe), and Tessa seems to be expressing what most of us fans feel towards Cassie’s book series. *sigh*
Tessa craned her head back to look at Will. “You know that feeling,” she said, “when you are reading a book, and you know that it is going to be a tragedy; you can feel the cold and darkness coming, see the net drawing tight around the characters who live and breathe on the pages. But you are tied to the story as if being dragged behind a carriage and you cannot let go or turn the course aside.” His blue eyes were dark with understanding — of course Will would understand — and she hurried on. “I feel now as if the same is happening, only not to characters on a page but to my own beloved friends and companions. I do not want to sit by while tragedy comes for us. I would turn it aside, only I struggle to discover how that might be done.”
“You fear for Jem,” Will said.
“Yes,” she said. “And I fear for you, too.”
“No,” Will said, hoarsely. “Don’t waste that on me, Tess.” Link
Let us know your theories about what either of these snippets mean by commenting below.
When you're part of the TMI fandom, you must understand a few things...
How Cassie Clare thinks:Hm, I have this really cool book in mind about demon hunters that are angels. Let me make all the characters completely perfect & the plot so twisted my readers will die.
3 books later:Oh look at that! Even though I've perfectly completed & tied up all loose ends, I think I'll write a prequel series with an even more screwed up love triangle.
1st book of prequel:I think I'll screw my readers over even more by adding 3 more books to the mix.
CoFA & CoLS:Let me just mess everything up one more time. Oh I know they're all waiting for Jace & Clary to just go already, but I think I'll make them wait. Meanwhile, I'll make everyone suffer in agony for 2 years before they get the last book. Oh! And I'll make yet ANOTHER series of an entirely new set of characters just to make sure my entire readership is dead!
Meanwhile:Let's make a movie, but I'm not gonna tell anyone who's casted as whom. Instead, I'll give them an actor a year.
And then Cassie's just like:*makes balloon animals*
Will rose slowly to his feet. He could not believe he was doing what he was doing, but it was clear that he was, clear as the silver rim around the black of Jem’s eyes. “If there is a life after this one,” he said, “let me meet you in it, James Carstairs.”
“There will be other lives.” Jem…
Infernal Devices is personally a little more favored for me but I love them both to death. So yes, I’m super excited about this snippet :D
“It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.”—
Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities
I already actually enjoyed this novel despite having to read it for school, but reading Infernal Devices made me like it more. It is a bit boring in the beginning, but by the end I had finished it like a week before I had to. :) I can definitely see Carton reflected in Will at times.
